My name is Jamie Stoker and I've worked in London and globally as a freelance portrait and documentary photographer for the past twenty years.
In early 2022 I moved with my partner and our young family to Berkhamsted where we quickly fell in love with the town and community. After volunteering to take photos for the Hospice of St Francis, I really enjoyed working and using my craft closer to home, as well as being nearer my young kids.
And so the idea behind Berkhamsted Photographic was born, a local photographic practice providing portrait, commercial and documentary photography to individuals, businesses and charities alike across our town.
I have a cosy portrait and headshot studio on Berkhamsted high street just near Fred and Ginger Coffee but I'm equally happy shooting out and about on location.
You can contact me below and I'd love to hear from you if you have any photography needs I can help with.
Portrait Photography
Whether you need a new portrait taken for personal or professional reasons, I can help.
I've photographed people for almost twenty years, for clients like Nike, Penguin Books and the V&A Museum, and magazines like the New York Times and Vogue, as well as countless personal commissions for those needing new portraits of themselves.

I have a small portrait and headshot studio on Berkhamsted High Street, but I'm equally happy and able to photograph on location.
Pre shoot we will always discuss your requirements and any other visual references so we craft a set of images together that you love.

Commercial Photography
I can create all aspects of commercial imagery for your business, whether photographs of your staff, locations, products or the work that you do.
Amongst many others I've worked commercially for Adidas and Burberry, photographing a range of people, products and stories for both advertising and social media.

In the studio there is space to shoot still life shots and flat lays as well as portraits, and detail shots of clothing and products. And I have a full setup of portable professional lighting and backdrop equipment to come to you and help photograph your business on location if easier.

Documentary Photography
I can help photograph and document all manner of events and occasions, shooting in a calm and considered way, aiming to tell a cinematic story of what is happening on the day.
For many years I travelled the world on assignment for Vogue, documenting backstage at the major fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris.

I've worked often for the New York Times, Sunday Times, and many other magazines and publications, regularly capturing arts stories and longer form pieces.
Documentary photography was my first love within the industry and I studied at The University of Brighton under the Magnum photographer Mark Power.

I specialise in shooting all manner of Portrait, Commercial and Documentary commissions, but ultimately I love shooting and working as a photographer in general, so please get in touch with any queries and I'll see if I can help.
What equipment do you use?
For many years I was an official Fujifilm X Ambassador, and I still use the X and medium format GFX systems for my work. For lighting I use a full suite of Profoto equipment.

Both! My studio in Berkhamsted is a cosy portrait studio with space for head and shoulder length portraits, headshots or still life/product setups. I also have portable backdrop and lighting systems to shoot as needed on location.
What are your qualifications as a photographer?
I studied photography both at Diploma Level at the London College of Communication and Degree Level at the University of Brighton, under the tutelage the Magnum Photographer Mark Power.
Since studying I've worked as a freelance photographer for over twenty years for clients such as Vogue, The New York Times and Adidas.
Do you offer photography tuition or workshops?
Yes, on a bespoke basis, I can help with all aspects of technical or artistic elements of photography.
I've taught workshops for Fujifilm and spoken regularly at the Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Please get in touch to find out more.
